An intimate Venetian-inspired palace in the heart of Boston, with three floors of galleries surrounding a flower-filled courtyard, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is home to more than 5,000 art objects, spanning 30 centuries, including masterworks by Botticelli, Titian, Raphael, Rembrandt, Degas, and Sargent. Opened to the public in 1903, the museum's collection, together with its historic and contemporary special exhibitions, Artist-in-Residence program, concerts, and public events, continues to celebrate personal connections with art. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum will close on November 15 2011 for nine weeks during a renovation project. The museum is expected to re-open sometime in January 2012.
