Lake Quinsigamond – Worcester/Shrewsbury
In Central Massachusetts, Lake Quinsigamond Park offers two sites where you can go swimming – Regatta Point and Lake Park, both on the Worcester side of the park. In the park you’ll also find opportunities for all seasons including fishing, sailing, tennis, and even cross-country skiing. Breezy Picnic Grounds Waterslides is more than just a lake – they offer pool swimming, picnic areas, a snack shack, and of course – waterslides. Since 1953 they’ve offered fun for the whole family. The slides are the highlight, but you’ll also find some pristine lake swimming here – a perfect place to spend a summer afternoon.Webster Lake – Webster
Fun fact: this lake’s former name was the longest name of any geographic feature in the whole country – Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg. Locals today know it by Webster Lake, and it is open for swimming via Webster’s Memorial Beach. The lake is well known for boating too.Lake Wyola – Shutesbury
Just north of Amherst, the beach and clear waters at Lake Wyola State Park is one of the best places to take a swim in the area. Don’t miss the fishing, grill, and picnic areas throughout the park.Onota Lake – Pittsfield
Owned and managed by the city of Pittsfield, Onata Lake is one of the best ways to experience the natural beauty of Western Massachusetts. Swim, hike, or paddle surrounded by forest trees, with mountains in your background. Stick around for a spectacular sunset view.Cochituate Lake – Natick/Wayland
Lake Cochituate in Cochituate State Park is actually made up of three linked ponds. If you’re in Greater Boston, it’s one of the best nearby places to escape the city for a quick swim. You can swim at Wayland Beach, where you can also try out a boat rental, take swimming lessons, or sit in a complimentary lounge chair.Ashland Reservoir – Ashland
Nestled within Ashland State Park, Ashland Reservoir is a local favorite. If swimming isn’t for you, stop by for the 3.5 miles of hiking and bike trails, canoes and paddleboards for rent, and 470 acres of forest.Upper and Lower Mystic Lakes – Medford/Arlington
The lakes within Mystic State Park are perfect for swimming, rowing, sailing, or just hanging out. At certain times of year, you may find the Tufts University sailing team practicing, or members of the Mystic Boat Club out for a peaceful ride. Stop by the sandy Shannon Beach if you’re looking to jump in the water yourself.White Pond – Concord
While the neighboring Walden Pond is closed for swimming, White Pond’s clear waters and renovated beach are just as inviting. You can even take swimming lessons here!Houghton’s Pond – Milton
Head on out to Blue Hills Reservation to experience Houghton Pond Recreational Area’s 24-acre pond. After a swim, why not reserve a picnic area, or hike along one of the parks many available trails?Nickerson State Park
