Elin Hilderbrand’s beloved novel The Five-Star Weekend is being adapted into a television series this summer. Set on the beautiful island of Nantucket, the story brings together five women for the ultimate girl’s weekend. We’ve compiled a list of some of the locations the ladies in the novel visit on the island that are sure to make your visit a five-star experience.
Eat Fresh
Hollis, the main protagonist of The Five-Star Weekend, runs a very successful food blog. She shops for fresh, local ingredients to treat her guests to delicious meals.
Bartlett’s Farm is the oldest and largest family-owned farm on Nantucket, founded by William Bartlett in the early 1800s. The market and garden center open daily at 8 AM, and offer seasonal farm grown produce, which they augment with other quality items so that you can always find what you need for your dish. If you get hungry while shopping, the Farm Kitchen offers breakfast sandwiches and cookies.
The 167Raw Nantucket Fish Market operates nine months of the year, and offers quality seafood and meats, as well as cheese, wine, beer, and other gourmet items. Open daily at 11 AM during their season, you can pick up fresh seafood and grab a fish taco or lobster roll at their food truck.
Dine Out

For those who prefer to take a vacation from the kitchen, there is an abundance of local spots for every meal around Nantucket. In The Five-Star Weekend, Hollis wakes up bright and early to make sure she has Nantucket Morning Buns from Wicked Island Bakery for her guests. These unique treats are just one of the delicious offerings from the bakery’s pastry chef and co-owner Ben, a graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York. Head to Black-Eyed Susan’s for a sit-down breakfast, a Nantucket favorite for over 30 years, where you’ll find a variety of egg dishes, pancakes, French toast, and other favorites.
For lunch, treat yourself to soup or a sandwich from Something Natural, a bakery and sandwich shop that has been serving delicious, quality meals for over 50 years. It’s known for home-baked breads that take their sandwiches to the next level. You can get your meal to go, and folks often make the ten-minute walk to Steps Beach for an ocean-side picknick.
Galley Beach Restaurant has been serving guests ocean-side since the 1920s at their location directly overlooking Nantucket sound. With stunning sunset views, an extensive wine cellar, knowledgeable staff, and the freshest ingredients, this high-end dining experience is on the pricier side, but worth every penny. For an Asian take on traditional New England seafood, Nautilus combines these inspirations with a nod to Spanish, Latin American, and Mediterranean influences for a unique dining experience. The owners want everyone to feel at home and comfortable in their expertly curated space. Both Nautilus and Galley Beach require reservations, so plan ahead if you want to include them on your Nantucket Island agenda.
Keep the party going with live music after dinner at the “internationally infamous” Chicken Box. This 21+ club hosts bands most evenings; last call is at 1 AM. For a more relaxed vibe, head to Cisco Kitchen & Bar at Brotherhood of Thieves for live music. Top off your evening with a sweet treat at Island Kitchen Ice Cream, featuring hand-crafted small batch flavors that are sure to delight.
