June 2019 – October 2020

The yearlong celebration of the 50th anniversary started in June. A total of three exhibitions will be displayed from June 8th 2019 through October 27th 2020. The exhibitions will feature Rockwell’s art, life, and legacy and it will include photographs, digital media, and artifacts.

Six Flags New England, the Thrill Capital of New England announced its newest thrill ride launching in 2020—Supergirl Sky Flyer. Guests will take an adrenaline-charged flight on the all-new Supergirl Sky Flyer attraction as they soar nearly 7-stories through the sky in open-air vehicles. 

MASS MoCA – Big Bling Installation

Summer 2020, North Adams

“Big Bling” by award winning artist Martin Puryear will be installed at a new parklet on the MASS MoCA campus. Puryear’s works will be on display in an exhibition beginning in 2022-23.

Bright Nights at Forest Park celebrates 25 years as New England’s largest holiday lighting display.  Held each year from Thanksgiving until New Year’s Day in Springfield’s Forest Park. 

200th Birthday of Susan B. Anthony & 100th Anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage Movement

February – August 2020, Adams

The Susan B. Anthony Birthplace is proud to coordinate 100 events throughout Massachusetts to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage. The 19th Amendment to the Constitution is the Susan B Anthony Amendment.  It is named in honor of America’s leading woman suffrage leader, Susan B. Anthony who was born in Western Massachusetts in 1820, making her exactly 200 years old in the Suffrage Centennial year. A monumental celebration beginning on Susan B. Anthony’s 200th birthday and ending on the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment that granted women the right to vote. 

Naumkeag Winterlights

November – December 2019, Stockbridge

Naumkeag will be illuminated with thousands of shimmering holiday lights and designed light installations with performances and activities for the whole family. 

Sweet:  A Tasty Journey Exhibition at Springfield Museums

October 2019 – April 2020, Springfield

From the history of candy itself to its role within pop culture, this exhibition creates an immersive experience to learn about the nuts and sprinkles of the candy and chocolate-making process. Sweet includes fascinating stories about famous candy makers and chocolatiers, interactive video and audio displays, and candy-inspired art. The centerpiece of this exhibition is the Rock Candy Mountain, which offers visitors an exciting experience sprinkled with interactive displays and photo opportunities.

125th Anniversary – City of North Adams in 2020
