The excitement builds as Santa’s Elves provide special entertainment beginning at 9 a.m. All eyes will turn to the sky as the whirr of the helicopter is heard at 10 a.m. When Santa and Mrs. Claus step out of the helicopter to cheers of delight, the holiday season will have truly begun.

The annual tree lighting of the Merry Maple is at 4:45 pm followed by Santa’s arrival accompanied by the UMass Minutemen Marching Band and visits with Santa at the Amherst History museum.

 

Christmas Vespers

Featuring the Smith College Chorus, Chamber Singers, Glee Club, Handbell Choir, and Orchestra. The annual holiday service of lessons and carols has been delighting audiences for decades. Featuring music by Hildegard von Bingen and works based on her melodies by Clifton J. Noble, Jr., Ronald Perera and Alice Parker ’47, and others. Come ring in the holiday season!

 

Holiday Stroll

To celebrate the holiday season, Main Street in Northampton will be closed to vehicular traffic from the Academy of Music down to Strong Avenue for the first annual Holiday Stroll. Holiday lights will be lit and programming will include music throughout the downtown area, sleigh rides, food and drink, community group involvement, vendors and more!
