What’s your outlook for the future?
We are optimistic that widespread vaccinations are being rolled out. But with significantly reduced demand from international guests and business travelers, relying on domestic travel has – and will continue to be – more important than ever for the livelihood of our business and staff.
What are your thoughts on educating the public about the value of supporting small businesses?
Efforts that communicate what wonderful beaches we have, our timeless link to JFK, our restaurants, our lighthouses, fast ferries to the islands, retail, and of course, boutique luxury inns, will continue to help elevate our collective brand and support our local economy. The My Local MA campaign also aligns with the recent hospitality trends we’ve experienced. For reference, in a typical year, 30% of our customers came from overseas, and about 25% from MA. In 2020, we didn’t have any travelers from abroad and about 80% came from New England. Many of our local guests were either discovering the Cape for the first time or coming back for the first time in years. The overwhelming response from these folks was very positive. They got to see how beautiful this area is, and how many wonderful things there are to do/see/experience.
Regardless of where our guests call “home,” we’re happy to welcome them at the Sea Street Inn.
