Muttessori Academy: Ruff Translating creates an inclusive environment for all
Ruff Translating is an LGBTQ-owned dog training company located in Boston, MA. Below, the team shares some details on their business and the importance of supporting local.
Describe your business
Ruff Translating is a balanced dog training company specializing in behavior modification and service dogs, and we train pet dogs. We use a science-based approach and focus on helping dogs regulate their emotions to live their best lives in a human-led world.
What makes your business unique?
We’re a trans-owned business and do everything we can to foster a safe. In addition, we want to help bring diversity to this industry.
What does your business look like?
Our three trainers teach private lessons to clients in our facility, and we have a new apprentice trainer who’s learning the ropes. We offer Muttessori Academy, our day training program, Monday through Friday. We work with each dog individually based on their needs and run group exercises with them, too. We also have an intensive Muttessori Academy program for behavior modification dogs during our regular school day. Adventure Club is our supplemental walking service – we run one-hour hikes in local green spaces – for clients in our service area.
How has your business changed or adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic?
We’ve been following CDC recommendations throughout the pandemic. We have strict cleaning protocols, require masks for everyone who walks in the door, and have been doing curbside pickups and drop-offs as needed.
