Dipped in community: Boston Honey Company produces local honey

Boston Honey Company, Inc. is located in Holliston, MA. Below, the team shares some details on their business and the importance of supporting local.

Describe your business:

Boston Honey Company is a family-owned and operated apiary that produces fine artisanal honey while providing pollination services to farms.

What makes your business unique?

Founded in 1996 by Andrew Reseska, this hobby turned full-time family business provides local raw honey across the eastern half of Massachusetts. We now have our very own farm stand that opened in November 2020. We only carry products that we produce or source from other small, locally owned businesses and producers. As beekeepers, we tend to the bees, to the land, and make efforts to support the health of honeybees constantly.

What does your business look like?

We offer a variety of services in our broad business of beekeeping and honey-making through our two retail locations: a farm stand in Holliston and a stall in the Boston Public Market. Honey and some of our other products are available on our website and wholesale.

On the beekeeping operations side, we sell honeybees to hobbyists and smaller beekeeping operations. We also provide pollination services to farmers.

Why is it important to support businesses like yours?

It is essential to support all agricultural businesses, especially those local to you. By supporting a company like ours, you vote with your dollar to keep income circulating in your local community. We buyback and support other local vendors in turn. By supporting a local beekeeper, we can continue our mission of supporting honeybees, pollinating apples, blueberries, and more for the upcoming season. We can continue to provide our customers with high-quality raw local honey.

Do you want to say anything to your customers?

We are forever grateful to our customers who have watched us grow over the years from our very humble beginnings to now having our own farm stand they can visit and have a fun time with their families.

How has your business changed or adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic?

We had just opened our farm stand when COVID-19 restrictions had begun to lift. We took several safety precautions and continued to provide our services while also keeping all customers and crew members safe.
