Founded on the idea that clean beauty should be easily accessible to all, Shimmer is a beauty and modern wellness boutique focusing on products created with a conscience. We help people make informed decisions about what they apply to their skin, with the goal of imparting confidence along the way. 

What makes your business unique? 

The people! I started Shimmer in my hometown of New Bedford, where my family and I are deeply rooted. I have worked in this community for 15 years and I pride myself on forming relationships with my customers. Even though some of our brands are available at large retailers, customers come back to Shimmer because my team and I take the time to make personalized suggestions and create a shopping experience based on more than making sales. 

What does your business look like? 

Shimmer is a brick-and-mortar location in historic downtown New Bedford and a retail website. We offer a variety of makeup, skincare, bath and body, haircare, and home care products from brands like Indie Lee, One Love Organics, Kitsch, Vapour Beauty, Juice Beauty, and more. We also offer personalized cosmetic consultations in-store where your makeup artist will not only apply your makeup but pick out the best products for you and teach you how to use them, giving you plenty of tips and tricks along the way! 

Why is it important to support businesses like yours? 

Supporting businesses like mine keeps our downtowns and main streets bustling and directly impacts the local economy. More money spent on small businesses goes directly back into your community than when you shop at large stores. I also focus on giving back by seasonally hosting donation drives for local animal shelters. I offer recycling programs for beauty products year-round and participate in numerous community events.
