At the seam of the Salem tourist industry: Witch Tee’s offers local threads

Witch Tee’s is a woman- and LGBTQ-owned tee shirt and sweatshirt shop located in Salem, MA. Below, the owner, Joan, shares some details on their business and the importance of supporting local.

Describe your business:

Witch Tee’s specializes in the best and broadest selection of Salem- and Witch-related designs, humorous tee-shirts, sports tee-shirts, a variety of sweatshirts, and high-quality Nantucket Fleece sweaters.

What makes your business unique?

I was born and raised in Salem, graduated from Salem High School and Salem State University, and have been in business in the downtown area for 28 years. My employees and the customer service they offer have made Witch Tee’s a must for countless tourists from all over the world on their yearly visits to Salem. In addition, our loyal, repeat customer base makes shopping at Witch Tee’s fun for customers and employees alike.

What does your business look like?

We have two brick-and-mortar locations in downtown Salem, the original located in Witch City Mall and the second on Essex Street near the Peabody Essex Museum. Our iconic and sought-after yellow bag with a smiling witch face makes us a destination for every tourist. We make up the backbone of the Salem tourist industry. In addition, we offer our products through our online shop and proudly offer items from infant to adult 5x sizes.

Do you want to say anything to your customers or guests?

Witch Tee’s is honored to have a loyal customer base, and we have missed them during the pandemic. We hope they remain safe and healthy and come to see us again when they can. We continue to offer the same quality at the best prices in the City of Salem.

How has your business changed or adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Because we believe in our products and customers, we took a big chance during an uncertain time and expanded our original store in the Witch City Mall. Confident that we have something for everybody, we have created a safer environment for our employees and customers.
