Art and functionality: NausetWood commits to natural, custom produts

NausetWood is a woodcarving business based in Eastham, MA. Below, the owner shares some details on their business and the importance of supporting local.

Describe your business

At NausetWood, we use the art of chip carving to incorporate intricate designs into basswood serving trays. Our slogan is “Craftsmanship with Distinction” because our handmade products allow us to maintain a high level of craftsmanship in every tray we create. All trays are hand-signed by the maker for a unique touch, and we do not “burn” our company name or signatures onto our trays. At NausetWood, we like to think that Mother Nature would be proud of what we do with her trees!

What does your business look like?

Trays can be custom-made and come in four different sizes and a variety of colors. Choose from our Traditional and Coastal collections. For a distinct look, we use wood dye instead of wood stain. Trays are finished with several coats of acrylic urethane, which produces a highly durable finish. Acrylic inserts are available for an added layer of protection against crumbs or spills. We offer wall racks to display these works of art – just lift your tray off the rack to put it to use! Our serving trays are available via our website and at several art galleries and gift shops throughout Cape Cod. NausetWood invites you to view our website to learn more about our company and what we offer. Shipping and local pick-up are available.

How has your business changed or adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic?

We’ve had to limit sales, and the gift shops and galleries that carry our trays have also experienced limited hours and accessibility during this pandemic.

Why is it important to support businesses like yours?

Supporting businesses like NausetWood is essential for a variety of reasons. First, NausetWood’s American-made handcrafted products embody a return to traditional craftsmanship upon which our country’s economy was built. Second, each tray is handmade, not mass-produced! Finally, supporting our business helps the local economy.
