100+ Free Winter Activities for Tourists to Enjoy
Launched by the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT), Wicked Free Winter Fun runs through Thursday, March 31, 2016 and features both indoor and outdoor activities that are accessible to tourists and locals alike. They range from ice skating, outdoor hikes and farmer’s markets to museum visits, concerts and film screenings – all free of charge. Visit massvacation.com/freewinter for complete details.
The online event listings are organized by the state’s six tourism regions: Greater Boston, North of Boston & Greater Merrimack Valley, South of Boston, Cape Cod & The Islands, Central Massachusetts and Western Massachusetts.
Among the listings are dozens of local museums offering free visits at various days of the week. A partial list includes the MIT Museum, Harvard Museum of Natural History, Discovery Museum, Fuller Craft Museum, New Bedford Whaling Museum, Woods Hole Science Aquarium, Worcester Art Museum, Fitchburg Art Museum, Norman Rockwell Museum, Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum and Williams College Museum of Art.
Wicked Free Winter Fun also rounds up a variety of outdoor winter activities offered by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation, Trustees of the Reservations and local cities and towns.
Massachusetts attracts 22.9 million domestic and 1.5 million overseas visitors each year, according to MOTT. For more information on visiting Massachusetts, go to massvacation.com.
