This Boston-based couple gave up conventional transportation when they felt gas prices became unrealistic in the 70’s, and since then they have been participating in and leading mountain and road biking adventures, endurance rides, and even cross-country tours. Captain Alan Leibovitz, Atlantic Charters
Captain Leibovitz built Atlantic Charters from a single sailboat charter to a full-service, family-fun sailing center in Marblehead Harbor. This self-taught jack-of-all-trades is not just a captain and businessman, but also a skilled sailing teacher and mechanic. Chris Ward, Superintendent, Trustees of Reservations Ipswich Properties
Though an outdoors enthusiast from an early age, Chris Ward’s early career path took him on a different journey as a hazardous materials technician. After a couple of years with little job satisfaction, he left to pursue seasonal work in the Forest Service. Several years and various outdoors jobs later, he took his first job with the Trustees of Reservations where he has worked in a variety of positions, including volunteer management at Stevens-Coolidge Place – a historic homestead with extensive ornamental gardens, despite having no gardening experience. In his new role he is committed to the challenge of caring for some of The Trustees most ecologically and historically significant, beautiful properties – and highly sought after destinations — on Boston’s North Shore. thetrustees.org
Denis Duquette, Founding Member, Peaked Mountain Property Committee
A self-proclaimed volunteer-a-holic, Denis splits his time between sitting behind his desk at a roofing company and getting involved in conservation efforts. He’s known for going above and beyond, whether he’s fundraising, organizing trail maintenance, helping people affected by natural disasters, or just picking up litter. One of his biggest goals is to visit all of the Trustees reservations in New England.
Molly DellaRoman, Farm Manager, Moose Hill Farm
As the new Farm Manager, Molly DellaRoman is making major tracks at The Trustees’ newest CSA on the block: Moose Hill Farm in Sharon. She learned her farm smarts at our Powisset Farm CSA in Dover and at the Natick Community Organic Farm and spent the last year “WWOOFing” – volunteering on organic farms in the Pacific Northwest through the Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms. Nicole Freedman—Director of the Boston Bikes Program
When it comes to bikes, this former Olympic cyclist means business. As the director of the Boston Bikes Program, Freedman is in charge of things like bicycle safety and education, and of infrastructure improvements for the city. She’s responsible for the change that has come over Boston since the program’s beginning in 2007, from one of the worst ranked cycling cities in the country to a nationally-known haven for bikers. bostonbikes.org
