Snack Through Summer at these Massachusetts Food Festivals

 BOSTON – May 30, 2014 – Summer is the season to celebrate the smells of sizzling, grilled meats, fresh, seasonal produce and dining al fresco. Massachusetts knows this best with a plethora of food truck gatherings and annual food festivals that attract hungry food enthusiasts far and wide. Sample bites cooked in the smallest of kitchens at the Worcester Food Truck Fest or nosh on dishes from the best chefs at Taste of Cambridge, which brings 100 local restaurants to this tabled, outdoor event.

If you would rather sip than snack, the Hyper-Local Craft Brewfest in Somerville provides unlimited two-ounce tastings of tasty microbrews. The Tanglewood Wine & Food Classic features wines from around the world, paired with locally sourced foods prepared by East Coast chefs, on the picturesque Tanglewood grounds.

From the Cape to the Berkshires, stop by one of the many food festivals in Massachusetts this summer and toast to some of the state’s best chefs, farms, brews and wines.

Hyper-Local Craft Brewfest ~ Somerville, 6/13/14 – 6/14/14

Presented by the Sustainable Business Network of MA, the Hyper-Local Craft Brewfest offers unlimited two-ounce tastings of homebrewed ales made with fine ingredients, such as local apples, cranberries, grapes, and even oysters in past years. Vendors include: Aeronaut Brewing Company of Somerville, Cambridge Brewing Company, Mayflower Brewing Company, and Berkshire Brewing Company of South Deerfield.

Summer Brewfest ~ Northampton, 6/14/14

The Summer Brewfest is located at the Three County Fairgrounds featuring national and local breweries. Expect brews like Peak Organic, Amherst Brewing Company and Otter Creek. After you have worked up an appetite, nosh on food from local vendors and dance to the musical headliner. As the festival’s saying goes, “Great Beer and Great Music Go Together!”

Taste of Amherst ~ Amherst, 6/19/14 – 6/22/14

This four-day fest fest highlights the tastes of this western MA town, presented by Atkins Farms Country Market. Don’t miss the Chowdown Challenge where 20-25 hungry Taste-goers participate in a 2-minute race to finish a variety of Taste of Amherst food samples.

Phantom Gourmet Food Fest ~ Boston, 6/20/14 – 6/22/14

At Boston’s City Hall Plaza, TV Show, Phantom Gourmet, will be hosting their exclusive BBQ & Music Festival. Live music performances include the sounds of Salt-N-Pepa, The Mighty Mighty BossToneS, The Gaslight Anthem, and Barrence Whitfield & the Savages.

Taste of Cambridge ~ Cambridge, 7/15/14

This year’s highly anticipated festival will be taking over Central Square in Cambridge. Visitors can anticipate dishes from over 100 local restaurants, butchers, cheese shops, and top-notch wine and beer from nearby vendors. Kids ages 12 and under can purchase a Tasting Ticket, children under age 6 are free, and General Admission includes four glasses of beer or wine with your meal. VIP ticket holders enjoy access to specialty craft beers and cocktails. Ticket proceeds go directly to local non-profit businesses for drug and alcohol abuse prevention and treatment.

Tanglewood Wine & Food Classic ~ Lenox, 8/7/14 – 8/10/14

The Tanglewood Wine & Food Classic features wines from around the world, East coast chefs, and locally sourced foods, enjoyed in an incomparable setting on the Tanglewood grounds. Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and often hosts James Taylor. Events include a cocktail reception, a chocolate and port seminar, a grand tasting with chefs of the region, private wine dinners and more.

Fisherman’s Feast ~ Boston, 8/14/14 – 8/17/14

The Fishermen’s Feast began in Boston in 1910 and is based on a tradition that dates back to the 16th century in Sicily. The feast is always held in Boston’s historic North End on North and Fleet Streets, making it the North End’s oldest continuously running Italian festival.

2nd Annual Cape Cod Food Truck Fest ~ Falmouth, 9/6/14

The Cape Cod Food Truck Festival returns to the Cape Cod Fairgrounds. With many of the same food trucks expected to appear throughout the state, Food Truck Festivals of New England will be kicking off its fall schedule of festivals on the Cape with over 20 food trucks participating this year.

*The Food Truck Fest will also visit Somerville on 6/7/14, Framingham on 6/20/14 and Worcester on 6/21/14.

100th Annual Portuguese Feast of the Blessed Sacrament  ~ New Bedford, 7/31/14 – 8/3/14

Founded in 1915 by four Madeiran immigrant men who wanted to recreate the festivals that were so common in the villages of their home island, this is the largest Portuguese feast in the world and the largest ethnic festival in New England. The feast attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the globe.
