You don't need to be a sports fanatic or a bird nerd to participate in Barnstable Land Trust's (BLT) inaugural Marsh Madness competition in honor Environmental Awareness Month! Representing over 20,000 acres, salt marshes have a vital role to play in protecting Cape Cod against the harmful effects of sea level rise and a changing climate. According to the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC), 36 percent (or approximately 7,000 acres) of our historical salt marshes have been lost or severely degraded. Throughout the month of March, learn more about our salt marsh eco-system through plant, bird, insect, marine life, and other habitat heroes (and villains) contests. Vote weekly for your fan favorite, become eligible for a prize package, and celebrate Cape Cod conservation champions by joining in the fun!
