Built in 1775 at the beginning of the American Revolution, Fort Phoenix protected the harbor at Fairhaven through the Civil War. Since 1926 it has been a public park, open during daylight hours year round. Free "Pirates & Privateers" programs are offered on Friday mornings June through September at 10:00 a.m. and there are two historical encampments by the Fairhaven Village Militia each year in the spring and fall.
