The gallery is governed and run by dues-paying, exhibiting artist members and showcases a diverse range of contemporary art in a mutually supportive environment that encourages experimentation and growth. 100% of the income from sales of artwork in the gallery benefits artists. Gallery exhibitions receive numerous visitors and attention in both print and online publications including Art in America, Art New England, ArtScope, The Boston Globe, and Big Red & Shiny, and the gallery's blog, Thinking About Art Out Loud.

The gallery space is divided front to back into the Main, Center and Members' galleries. Occasionally, at the discretion of the gallery artists, the guest artists exhibit work in the Center Gallery to coincide with exhibitions in the Main gallery.
