Mark your calendars for a uniquely western Massachusetts celebration! 413 Day is happening on Sunday, April 13, 2025, and it’s all about recognizing the people, creativity, and spirit that make the 413 area code so special. 

Hosted by New England Public Media’s The Fabulous 413 radio show, the free event will take place from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at CitySpace in Easthampton. Guests will enjoy: 

– Live music from local favorites including Erin McKeown and The Fawns 

– Appearances by Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll, Easthampton Mayor Nicole LaChapelle, and more 

– Engaging conversations with show regulars like The Word Nerd, Mr. Universe, and Ousmane Power-Greene 

– A wine tasting from Tip Top Wine Shop 

– Food trucks, including Thai Chili 

– A chance to meet the hosts and join in celebrating all things western Mass 

This event is free and open to the public.

Fun Things to Do in Western Mass

Berkshire County 

Norman Rockwell Museum (Stockbridge) – An inspiring and accessible look at American history through the artist’s illustrations, interactive exhibits and beautiful grounds  

Tanglewood Family Concerts (Lenox) – Outdoor summer music events, including special programming for younger audiences 

Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum (Lenox/Adams) – Train rides and historic fun for all ages

Hampden County 

The Zoo in Forest Park & Education Center (Springfield) – Home to more than 200 animals in a walkable wooded park 

The Big E (West Springfield) – New England’s iconic fair with rides, food, and family fun every September 

Children’s Museum and Carousel (Holyoke) – Located within Holyoke Heritage State Park you can enjoy a historic merry-go-round ride followed by a visit to a vibrant, hands-on museum.

Historic Northampton – Offers exhibits and workshops connecting kids with local history 

Outlook Farm (Westhampton) – Year-round farm store, animals, and pick-your-own apples 

Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art (Amherst) – Interactive exhibits and events celebrating children’s literature

Berkshire East (Charlemont) – Besides winter fun, enjoy a mountain coaster, ziplining, mountain bike park, camping, and scenic chairlift rides 

Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory (South Deerfield) – Tropical environment filled with butterflies and exotic plants 

Great Falls Discovery Center (Turners Falls) – Learn about the Connecticut River and local wildlife through exhibits and activities
