As snow falls across Massachusetts-an often over-looked but thriving outdoor activity-takes center stage. Celebrating its 55th year, the Massachusetts Snowmobilers’ Association (Sled Mass) is at the heart of this exhilarating sport, offering a vast network of over 2,200 miles of trails that crisscross the Commonwealth.

Whether you’re a seasoned snowmobiler or new to the sport, here’s why snowmobiling in Massachusetts is a must-try activity this winter.

A Trail Network Built for Adventure

The snowmobiling community in Massachusetts has built and maintained trails for decades, creating pathways that are not only vital for snowmobilers but shared with outdoor enthusiasts year-round. From the 85 miles of trails in Harvard and Marlborough to the scenic routes in the Berkshires and Florida, MA, these trails showcase the state’s natural beauty.

Thanks to partnerships with the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), the trails are well-managed and accessible, making them a viable alternative for enjoying the winter wilderness. Snowmobiling offers a unique opportunity for all individuals – regardless of age or ability – to experience the great outdoors and enjoy winter in the wilderness in Massachusetts.

Women’s ride weekends and family events ensure that snowmobiling is an inclusive activity for everyone. A highlight is the Blue Vista Motel in Florida, MA, which hosts special weekend events for riders.

The Snow Moon Ladies ride weekend is scheduled for February 21-23 with homebase at the Blue Vista Motor Lodge in North Adams. The Blue Vista Motor Lodge sits at the peak of Whitcomb Summit in Florida, Massachusetts and boasts mountain views and relaxing spaces to unwind after a fun day of riding.
