Hello, 2025! Here in Massachusetts, we’re getting excited about all the upcoming sports to enjoy this year. Below, you’ll find a sampling of sporting events including the hometown teams, plus special events and iconic annual events, with something for everyone all across the state.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame showcases rising basketball talent at its annual Spalding HoopHall Classic.

January 16-20, Blake Arena at Springfield College, Springfield

 

Professional Women’s Hockey League’s Boston Fleet host the Minnesota Frost in a regular season rematch of the inaugural season’s championship pairing on February 16.

February 16, Tsongas Arena, Lowell

 

The New England Revolution (Major League Soccer) hold their regular season home opener.

March 1, Gillette Stadium, Foxboro

 

The New England Freejacks rugby team host the NOLA Gold in their home opener!

March 15, Veterans Memorial Stadium, Quincy

 

The ISU World Figure Skating Championships are coming!

March 25-30, TD Garden, Boston

 

Worcester Red Sox opening day takes place at Polar Park!

April 4, Fenway Park, Boston

 

The Springfield Thunderbirds hockey team wrap up their regular season against the Charlotte Checkers, featuring a pregame block party and Fan Appreciation Night including a poster giveaway.

April 19, MassMutual Center, Springfield

 

The Boston Marathon occurs on Patriots’ Day!

April 21, Hopkinton, Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton, Brookline, and Boston

 

Massachusetts will be lacrosse central as it hosts all the NCAA lacrosse championships. Gillette Stadium will host the NCAA Divisions I, II, and III Men’s lacrosse championship semifinals and finals and the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse championship finals. Stonehill College in Easton will host the NCAA Division II Women’s lacrosse semifinals and finals. Babson College in Wellesley will host the NCAA Division III Women’s lacrosse championship semifinals and finals.

The Worcester Bravehearts baseball team kick-off their home schedule versus the Nashua Silver Knights.

May 29, Fitton Field, Worcester

 

The NORAM Cup, a biennial gay and inclusive rugby tournament, hosted by the Boston Ironsides of International Gay Rugby (IGR), will be held at East Boston Memorial Park.

May 31-June 1, Boston

 

The Ironman 70.3 returns to beautiful Western Massachusetts: swim, bike and run against the best in this grueling competition.

June 8, Springfield Area

 

Hooplandia, a three-on-three basketball tournament, takes over the Eastern States Exposition grounds!

June 20-22, West Springfield

 

The WNBA’s Connecticut Sun take on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever at the TD Garden!

July 15, Boston

The iconic Cape Cod Baseball League is in the full swing of things in July.

The 53rd running of the iconic 7.1 mile Asics Falmouth Road Race takes place during the dog days of August.

The Head of the Charles Regatta originated in 1965, and brings together 11,000 rowers and tens of thousands of spectators amidst the scenic Charles River and New England fall foliage.

The Wasabi Fenway Bowl features teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference and the American Athletic Conference, and brings the excitement of post-season college football to New England.
