The Best Spots to Watch the Sparks Fly on 4th of July in Massachusetts

Firework displays are going to light up the sky in MA on the 4th

On the 4th of July we celebrate America’s Independence Day, and that means fireworks dancing with the stars and lighting up the night’s sky. We’re throwing the USA a birthday bash in every region of the Bay State, so there’s tons of red, white, and beautiful locations to take in the snap, crackle, and pops!
Naturally, the DCR Hatch Shell on the Esplanade in Boston is a prime location to witness the musical stylings of the Boston POPS. If you’re a true star-gazer, though, you’ll burst at the opportunity to perch yourself atop the roof of the Museum of Science garage. From there you’ll have a bird’s-eye view of the Boston Pops and their dazzling fireworks display over the Charles River, along with science-themed entertainment and activities for the kids. Or take it up a notch by trekking to Wright’s Tower in Medford’s Middlesex Fells for a gorgeous view of Boston’s skyline lit up with color!

If heights aren’t your thing, then take your love of fireworks back down to sea level!

Hop a ride with the Sea Shuttle Crew from Salem Wharf for the fireworks shows in Salem and Marblehead, or experience a little maritime magic by watching the fireworks from the deck of the battleship USS Massachusetts in Fall River. Battleships don’t float your boat? Then how about an evening cruise? Escape to the Cape and be awed by the handsome beach houses, all the while enjoying festivities aboard the Nauset Marina for a 4th of July Fireworks cruise over Pleasant Bay in Orleans.

On Monday, July 3rd, catch the Wave in front of the Whaling Museum on Broad Street to be shuttled to Jetties Beach in Nantucket. You’ll be able to enjoy the fireworks display shot off from a barge while dipping your toes in the sand.

The 4th of July holiday break is also a great chance to travel to the heart of the state – Central Massachusetts – or to explore the natural beauty of Western Massachusetts.

Roam the lush, green meadows of the Fruitlands Museum in Harvard before their big fireworks display on July 3rd, or make a day of it at Six Flags New England in Agawam for the Coca-Cola® July 4th Fest! The games, cotton candy, and thrilling rides will be matched by the dazzling fireworks displays and DJ parties at the Main Street Gazebo.
