Massachusetts prides itself on its culinary riches, ranging from classic New England seafood to ethnic delights from the state’s rich tapestry of worldwide communities. One of the mouthwatering cuisines people are seeking is Halal, a special diet of food for Muslims worldwide.
From restaurants and food trucks to plentiful markets, Massachusetts has many Halal food sources that are ideal for travelers with adventurous palates seeking new flavors. Ranging from Middle Eastern and African to Turkish and Indonesian venues, here are some you won’t want to miss!

FOOD TRUCKS

Chicken & Rice Guys

A great introduction to Halal food is the popular food truck, Chicken & Rice Guys, located at the Prudential Center (Monday-Friday from 11am-3pm) and Kendall Square (Thursdays from 11am-2pm on). In addition to the food trucks, the Chicken & Rice Guys also operate restaurants in Boston and Medford.

Halal Guys

The pioneers of American Halal Food are the Halal Guys; operators of a popular food truck in New York City for the past 25 years. The good news for Massachusetts is that Halal Guys are coming to Boston, according to a recent new story. Their presence in the Boston area will definitely create a renewed buzz for Halal cuisine.

RESTAURANTS

Black Seed Café and Grill –- Downtown Boston

Located near the Park Street T station, this Black Seed Café and Grill offers various Turkish delights from kebab to burgers. There is also a dedicated prayer room in the basement for traveling Muslims that wish to keep their daily traditions.

Falafel Corner — Cambridge

Falafel Corner is a small restaurant serving inexpensive Middle Eastern food near Harvard Square. With menu items like falafel, tabouli, baba ghannouj, shawarma, Mediterranean salad, baklava and basboussa, it’s sure to satisfy. Falafel Corner also offer late night delivery food service.

Boston Baklava, Samaya Food Product Inc. — Quincy

This Middle Eastern eatery has been serving up a bevy of authentic dishes like fajita, kubba, laham ajean, yellow basmati rice, hummus, and their ever-popular Iraqi handmade bread (Sammon) since 2014.
