The Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, an exciting and competitive sporting tradition, is back in Massachusetts as we head into the New Year.  On Friday, January 1, 2016 the storied rivalry between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens takes place at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA, home of the Superbowl Champions New England Patriots.
The NHL Winter Classic is the perfect event for visitors and residents alike to enjoy one of the great traditions of New England – outdoors hockey.  First created in 2008, the NHL Winter Classic was last held in Massachusetts in 2010, when the Bruins took on the Philadelphia Flyers at Fenway Park.

As two of the oldest organizations in the sport, the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins are seeped in history.  Both are members of the original six original NHL teams.  For this matchup, the Bruins are sporting a recreated version of the original uniform from the organizations inaugural year in 1924-25, while the Canadiens are wearing a jersey that contains the same logo from their 1923-24 Stanley Cup season.
Don’t have tickets to the New Years’ Day game? There are plenty of other viewing options for this event. Gillette Stadium is also home to Patriot Place, a strip of restaurants, bars, and stores just outside the stadium. Stop by Bar Louie or the CBS Scene Restaurant and Bar for some food and drinks while viewing the game.
