Second only to Boston in population size among New England cities, Worcester always has something to offer residents and visitors alike.
To start, the city boasts a marvelous museum, an up-and-coming food scene and a variety of shopping boutiques, as well as plenty of space for outdoor exploration nearby.
When visiting the area, travelers have much to choose from, not just in activities, but also in the way of places to stay. Among Worcester’s lodgings, the Beechwood Hotel is a special one, combining a very convenient location with cozy accommodations and a top-class restaurant.
Read on for a brief tour of what you’ll find inside, as well as out.

The Hotel
Located smack dab in the middle of Worcester, the Beechwood Hotel is a luxury boutique hotel that blends together historical touches from both near and far. Upon entry, visitors are welcomed by marble floors, custom-designed furniture and a black walnut fireplace with quite a history; the hearth originally belonged to an 1800s-era New England home, and is one of several classic touches that adorns the hotel.

Elsewhere, two stained glass domes decorated with intricate patterns keep watch over the Beechwood’s main stairway and restaurant. In keeping with the other antique-era accouterments, the hotel’s walls and open spaces also feature lithographs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The Amenities
The Beechwood offers a couple different types of accommodations: Executive Rooms and Executive Suites. The rooms have either king or queen beds, flat screen TVs, coffee makers and robes, in addition to the more basic necessities. The suites have all that, too, plus a dry bar, sitting area and pull out sofa. Throughout the hotel property, free Wi-Fi is available, along with 24-hour room service and dry cleaning.

Attentive finishes and amenities notwithstanding, the best part of the Beechwood just might be Ceres Bistro, one of the city’s top restaurants. Ceres is located inside the hotel and serves all three meals, whipping them up each day with fresh seasonal ingredients. Diners can enjoy the fare indoors or al fresco on the widely acclaimed patio during warmer months. Here’s a little taste of what Ceres is all about:

The Area
Situated on Plantation Street, the Beechwood puts patrons within easy driving distance of some major Worcester attractions. The Worcester Art Museum, known to locals as WAM, is just a ten-minute drive away and maintains a genuinely world-class collection; indeed, it was the first museum in the country to purchase work by Claude Monet and its current 35,000-piece selection encompasses 50 centuries of art.

The EcoTarium, a unique and charming indoor-outdoor museum that’s tailor-made for families, is even closer, requiring just a few minutes behind the wheel or a 20-minute walk. The DCU Center is right nearby, too, where visitors can take in a Worcester Sharks game during the winter and all kinds of shows throughout the year.
