Valentine’s Day is just around the corner; in part with the generic cards, and message-stamped candy, there are quite a few uniquely fun activities to take part in across Massachusetts — everything from delectable events with treats to an intellectually inspired, but visually appealing trip to a museum.
This Valentine’s Day in Massachusetts, don’t be afraid to have some out-of-the-box fun!
Sweet or Bubbly?
If you’re looking to sit down for a romantic wine and dine, there’s no doubt that one of the many Massachusetts restaurants will suffice, but know that you don’t necessarily need to sit down for a memorable bite to eat.
On select dates in February, just north of Boston, Salem’s So Sweet is set to satisfy even your most insatiable sweet tooth with its 11th annual celebration of chocolate, ice sculptures, and wine. With dozens of ice sculptures in place throughout downtown Salem, the festival will kick off on February 8th with a Wine and Chocolate Tasting at Colonial Hall, and will continue with a collection of events scheduled for February 8th, and the 14th-16th, featuring a nightly Valentine’s special at Capt’s Waterfront Premium Steak & Seafood Grill.
On Valentine’s Day, the Boston Harbor Hotel Wine Festival, America’s longest running wine festival, will be hosting a Champagne Dinner Dance, where Chef Daniel Bruce will put his talents on display, featuring an all Champagne dinner, coupled with amazing food, live music, and of course, dancing!
Explore the Outdoors!
For the outdoor adventure-seekers out there, if the indoor sweets or bubbly extravaganzas aren’t on your radar, look to the outdoors!
Boston’s most luxurious cruising vessel, the Odyssey, will set sail with their Valentine’s Day Dinner and Weekend Cruises featuring distinctive cuisine, live entertainment, dancing, and breathtaking views. Valentine’s inspired cruises are currently scheduled for Thursday, February 14th, and Saturday, February 16th. If you book before January 31st, you’ll receive 15% off (use promotion code: EARLYBIRD)! To book, call 866-307-2469 or book online here.
If you’re thinking about hitting the slopes, Wachusett Mountain is hosting a collection of Valentine’s Day deals and specials; wear a red outer layer and you’ll receive $10 off a lift ticket (must be visible when skiing), or head over to the Black Diamond Restaurant for a dinner special for two ($40 per couple). For an evening in the Berkshires that’s both romantic and intellectually stimulating, check out MASS MoCA’s Date Night: tour the Museum’s galleries, craft a hand made gift, and enjoy a candlelit dinner in their café. And, if you’d like to bring your kids along, the MASS MoCA invites you to drop them off at Kidspace for their own adventurous night at the museum including diner, fun activities and art projects. As space is limited, advanced reservations are required — so, to reserve, please call 413-664-4481 x8500.
If you prefer music, spend your Valentine’s night listening to Tony Bennett! The iconic Boston Opera House, located at 539 Washington Street in Downtown Boston is set to play host to the legendary, jazz sensation on Valentine’s night at 8:00 PM. Tickets are currently available here.
