When traveling, it’s important to know where to find good eats – something new, something interesting, something different. Thankfully, the culinary scene here in Massachusetts is robust, and those interesting good eats are all over the place – in our downtowns, local neighborhoods, and backyards.
If you’re heading to Boston, certainly don’t hesitate to explore the good eats of the South End.
Located on the South End’s “Neck,” there’s a welcoming local hangout that has been serving up a menu nothing short of culinary wit since June of 2010.
As stated on their site, The Gallows is “LOUD,” not so much in a literal sense, but more along the lines of the fact that their menu has the ability to enhance all of the culinary curiosities that you may crave – or may not even known that you crave. It’s a place to find something new with locally sourced ingredients, and to explore tastes that you wouldn’t initially comprehend.
Far from your average bite to eat, The Gallows is a dining discovery, one that knows farm-to-table as the true basis for each menu.
And it starts with Chef Seth Morrison, an experienced culinary professional that has been working in Boston for over 15 years. His long-lasting relationships with local farmers, fish mongers, specialty food providers, and distributors enables them to get some of the best quality items, as well as the best of what’s in season, allowing for an interesting menu approach – where seasonability is the focus.
All four of their menus change on a weekly basis. Starting with what’s locally available, each menu is crafted into an eye-popping set of culinary creations, which on any given week can range from using kimchi and asparagus to a creative twist on a corndog to decadent foie gras.
But our words certainly don’t paint the entire picture, so courtesy of the good folks at The Gallows, today on MassFinds, we’d like to show off a few of these mouthwatering culinary creations…
Let’s start with the burgers:

Monday-Wednesday: Kitchen is open for dinner from 5 PM – 10 PM. Bar’s open until 12 AM.
Thursday-Saturday: Kitchen is open for lunch from 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM. Dinner is available from 5 PM – 10 PM. Bar’s open until 1 AM.
Sunday: Brunch is from 11 AM – 3 PM, and dinner runs 5 PM – 10 PM. Bar’s open until 11 PM.
They take reservations for parties of six or more over the phone (617-425-0200), and have an available valet service on Fridays and Saturdays, but there’s plenty of street parking available in the area.
